At the end of 2018, an avenue exceeding 700 m³/s registered on October 15 and 16 caused serious damage to the El Molí dam on the Ter river. The episode caused the upper half of the dam to detach by approximately 67 meters—about three-quarters of its length—and the dragging downstream of large blocks of cyclopean concrete. The action includes the project and the subsequent direction of the work for the reconstruction of the dam, and the incorporation of a fish ramp to ensure the ecological continuity of the river.

The challenge consisted of evaluating the state of the infrastructure through fieldwork and analyzing its operating conditions to draft a viable construction project in a complex river environment. The solution should make it possible to carry out a large project and integrate a fish ramp that would guarantee biological connectivity, in accordance with the current criteria of the Catalan Water Agency.
The intervention eliminates a situation of structural risk with potential damage to citizens and the environment, while improving the hydraulic functionality and ecological quality of the river. Project development and construction management reinforce Iplan Integral Management's commitment to the safety, sustainability and environmental improvement of infrastructures.
