At the end of October 2024, an Isolated Depression at High Levels (DANA) caused an extraordinary avenue on the Magro River that seriously affected various infrastructures in the Valencian Community, including the access bridge to Carlet on the CV-5241 highway. The magnitude of the episode caused the collapse of a 45-meter stretch, with the collapse of several spans and piles, important processes of undermining the foundations and the sliding of the retaining wall that supported Plaza Malecón, an emblematic public space and social meeting point for the municipality.

The main challenge undertaken was to act as a matter of maximum urgency in a highly conditioned environment, guaranteeing structural safety, technical viability and regulatory compliance in the shortest possible time and with greater guarantees of safety and resilience. The intervention required coordinating geotechnical, hydraulic and structural studies in record time, redefining the construction solution to improve resilience in the face of extreme avenues, and making the work compatible with the restoration of essential services. The result is a safer, more robust and future-ready bridge.
The positive impact of the project translates into the recovery of a strategic connection for the municipality, the restoration of an emblematic public space such as Plaza Malecón and the putting into service of a safer, more robust infrastructure prepared for future adverse weather events, thus reinforcing mobility, economic activity and public trust.
Demos forma al futuro juntos.
